Each time a fire door is cut to fit a hinge, lock or latch a weakness is created. This can mean up to four weakened points in a door, which could allow a fire to take hold. Any ironmongery installed on a fire door must be fitted without compromising the integrity of the fire door assembly. This is of particular importance where ironmongery is rebated into the door set, such as hinges, locks and latches.

The use of a Perry Shield Intumescent Kit helps protects these weak points and maintain the doors integrity. The kits are made from a sheet of an ultra-thin and flexible high performance intumescent material. This 0.8mm intumescent sheet contains intercalated graphite which will provide up to 60 minutes of fire protection and offers high levels of expansion and insulation, preventing heat transfer when fitted on ironmongery rebated into timber doorsets.
