Cuprinol Decking Oil & Protector is the traditional way to enhance and protect garden decks. It penetrates deep into the wood to replace natural oils and resins whilst its tinted formula revitalises the colour of weathered wood.
Where to use Cuprinol Decking Oil & Protector is suitable for use on all types of timber decking including boards and tiles. It is particularly suitable for hardwood decking and for reviving the colour of weathered decks.
How much isneeded A 5 litre tin is normally sufficient for: 50m² with 2 coats. Note that weathered or sawn wood and grooved decking will reduce coverage
Preparing the job Timber specifically sold for decking is normally pre-treated with wood preserver to prevent decay. If using unpreserved timber, treat with Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear and allow to dry for 3-5 days before applying Cuprinol Decking Oil & Protector. Seek advice for specific treatment methods for timberused in ground contact. Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from surface coatings, algae and mould. For best results, brush to remove dust and debris, then clean surfaces with Cuprinol Decking Cleaner. Rinse well and allow to dry.
How to apply Shake can well before and frequently during use. Apply evenly by brush or coarse spray avoiding splashing surrounding plants, brickwork, glass etc. Apply a second coat if required once the first coat has penetrated into the wood. Do not allow puddles to form.
Drying time 1-2 days depending on conditions. Avoid walking on decks until fully dry.
Cleaning and storage Remove as much Cuprinol Decking Oil & Protector as possible from brushes before cleaning with white spirit. For best results use Polycell Brush Cleaner. Do not use or store in extremes of temperature. Clean up any spills while still wet.
